Fleas or Fun?!

Flea Markets. I love them! Now to be honest sometimes you go to a flea market and you wonder if the name really does live up to the market... but I've had mostly good experiences at flea markets. I went to a lot of Flea Markets while I was living in Germany, I had the chance to go through rubbish and old items of no worth and find something amazing! In the end I would have forgotten about all the interesting things I seemed to run into and only think about the amazing finds I had managed to purchase.
I remember one time I went to a Flea Market and basically had an Flea Market overdose. The market was huge, there were tons of people, and I was looking for one specific items: A German Fairy Tale Book. I could not find one anywhere! We were looking for hours and hours and hours and it seemed like I'd never find it! Finally... we went home. No book and I was done with Flea markets for a good while. BUT... I did manage to purchase a German DVD I had wanted and a Bierstein for my father. In fact I walked away with a couple of good finds! Soooo, I can either look at this as a total bust... I didn't find my book and I was shattered, or I found some treasures I didn't know I was looking for! You decide which one better defines the day, and practice this next time you don't have to wade through the bad to get to the good!
The principle here is throwing out the bad and finding the good. The best way I've used this in my own life is by not getting bothered by what happens but by finding the good in the situation. Sometimes we wade through trials, something is annoying to us, or we plan something and it just doesn't work out. Stop and think about that hidden treasure awaiting you, what have you learned from the situation? How can you turn this negative into a positive? Christ thought of the glass as full... not half full or half empty. We can do the same, we just have to work at it.
