Smiling, Yay!

I LOVE THIS VIDEO!!! I love it because of the love I feel when Sunday is talking. He loves life! The thing I love the most about his love for life is his smile... it's so contagious! Why do we need to frown?
One time I was at church and my sister told me that her friend that that I was mean and angry all the time. I guess I walk around with a natural scowl... I was so sad! I wanted nothing more than to walk around always with a smile, how else would anyone know that I was happy. The smiles we share can turn around someone's day. I can't help but think of our perfect example, the Savior, who must have always had a smile on his face! Watch this video and catch the smile!

Bible Videos!

During Christmas the First Presidency announced a series of Bible Videos that would depict the life of the Savior through video using only Bible Scripture. As you watch these videos listen to the words, feel the Spirit during the quiet parts, and remember the Life of our Savior.

Ask and Seek

I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is Christ's Church that has been restored by a prophet.
This last week another missionary mentioned that each week he asked God if the Church is true. I decided that this was a great idea and that I should implement this each week. I already have a strong testimony of the gospel but I knew that the best way to excercise my faith would be to ask again if I could come to know it was true.
The last few days I have asked each night if the church was true, I felt that it was but I still felt like my answer still had not come and that I needed to continue to ask until I felt I had really gained that answer.
I've been sick the last few days and I decided that I shouldn't go volunteer at the nursing home today like I usually do because I didn't want to infect anyone. So for the first time in a few weeks I decided it was time to blog and I got on lds.org and watched some videos that were new and I had not seen. The first few were great as usual and I started a blog on a video about recieveing revelation from the spirit. Of course halfway through the first sentence my mind went blank and I decided to go back and see if there were any new videos, I clicked on this one:

As I watched this video I felt the spirit of the Atonement, the spirit of what I teach each day as a missionary and I knew that as we come to know our Savior we come to know that this is His church. The testimony of him throughout the Bible and the Book of Mormon are pure and simple. He is the center of the gospel and by no other means can we be saved.
Whether you're on the beginning of the path to know the church is true for the first time or you've been a member your whole life, ask Heavenly Father if this is Christ's Church and then study about the Savior. As a representative of Jesus Christ I know you will recieve an answer.

Let the Holy Spirit Guide

The best gift I've ever been given is: The Holy Ghost. It took me a log time to realize the importance of the Holy Ghost, but now that I recognize it's presence in my life everyday, I can't imagine not having it! This video is a great about explaining the Holy Ghost!

Fix It!

The other day we experienced an unfortunate event. Our toilet went on holiday. You can only imagine 4 Sister Missionaries living in a house with no use of a toilet. It was Man vs. Wild missionary style. With the absence of a working Toilet in our house we had to resort to using the toilet located just down the street at your local home grocer Wegman's. Not gonna lie, it wasn't that bad. In fact, we were lucky we had a Wegmans and didn't have to resort to the gas station on the opposite corner.

During the absence of our Toilet we had to call in for back-up. We started by calling people from our office, our church congregation, even our neighbors. No one seemed to be answering their phones (I don't blame them... this is toilets we're working with here). Finally, someone came to help us out, but it wasn't long before we realized we'd need more than 3 plungers and some Mega Man power. We'd have to turn to someone who had the proper tools, so we resorted to having someone from Rochester drive all the way out at 9pm at night in order to fix our now Journal worthy Toilet.

It wasn't long before our toilet came back from Holiday and our field trips to Wegman's became an adventure of the past. How many times have we been stuck in a situation where no matter what we do ourselves we need to rely on someone who knows how to fix it to help us out? Not often enough. To be honest people in today's society are all about getting it done by yourself with no help from anyone else. Sometimes this can be good, we are able to do a lot of things on our own. However, when we find oursleves needing help... all we need to do is ask, and to ask the right person.

A lot of times this person is our Heavenly Father. We go through trials and we think "I don't need God, I can do this by myself" but who knows you better than the person who created you? He is there to help us with those tools that no one else carries. He loves us and he doesn't want to see us having to beat around the bush trying to solve a problem. All you have to do is just ask for help. He's there and he's listening. In other words, why go to Wegman's to use the bathroom when you can fix the toilet and use it now.

When We Think We Know...

Every Tuesday we have a Scripture Study class that we have for anyone who wants to come and study the scriptures. We take turns teaching and preparing lesson... and this week we're teaching. This week I am with a new companion... Sister Lee from Hong Kong. We're just together for the week, but we have the task of teaching the last lesson before for scripture study before Christmas! We've covered a lot in our class about the true meaning of Christmas, how we can make the season a time about Christ, and so forth.

As I was thinking about what we could teach I thought about a Christmas story I had just read the night before about how a young man is put together with another man, named Bill, to go out and visit people from church. The young man thinks that Bill is the wrong example for those they will be teaching. He is rough around the edges and not very tidy in appearance, he smokes and so forth. As they go out and visit these people, the young man sees that Bill is caring and charitable. Each person they visit expresses gratitude of how much Bill has done for them. At the end of each lesson Bill asks the young man to share a message. As part of his Christmas message he shares these scriptures~ Luke 18:10-13
10 Two men went up into the temple to apray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am anot as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
12 I afast twice in the week, I give btithes of all that I cpossess.
13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a asinner.

After he shares this message Bill says he doesn't quite understand it but that he probably should have spent more time studying the scriptures rather than studying diesel engines. The young man replies with "But you you know the scriptures Bill."

What a GREAT concept! We don't know the scriptures until we're following the commandments and words inside. The example of the Pharisee and Publican is so perfect because we're able to see who truly knows the word of the Lord.
So think about how you can truly KNOW the scriptures... what do you think you can do?

Wise Men Still Seek Him

What a great depiction this video is of what we should truly be doing in order to come closer to our Savior. I can't think of a better way to explain it: Wise Men Still Seek Him
